We all know how important it is to ensure the breaks on our vehicle are working efficiently. Like all components, brakes deteriorate over time, and as such many people will not notice this happening. We have compiled a short list of the most important things to look out for, as follows:
Grinding Noise
This usually suggests the brake pads have worn down to the minimum thickness and need to be replaced.
Pulling to the left or right when breaking
This could mean there is sticking on the break discs or a problem with the hydraulic elements of the brakes, and should be checked as soon as possible.
If you are in any doubt at all about the health of your brakes, it is always better to be safe and get them checked. When checking the braking system, our mechanics will carry out the following:
- Check the condition of brakes pads & discs, and the hydraulic components
- Clean the drums and remove any dust
- Adjust rear brakes
- Check handbrake and adjust if necessary
- Check brake fluid levels
- Carry out a test and report back to you
